Accessibility statement
We want the whole task — choose a file, set the size, download the result — to be completable by keyboard alone and by screen reader. This page says where we are.
Conformance status
This version of minimage is designed and tested against WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Full conformance has not yet been established. Automated checks and the reviewed keyboard flows passed; manual checks remain open below. EN 301 549 conformance assessment is not yet complete and is required before any paid promotion in the EU or UK.
What works today
- Every control is a native HTML control, reachable with Tab in a logical order; the file picker, the size fields, the format, quality and the resize action are all keyboard operable.
- Drag and drop is an enhancement only: the file picker is always available, so no task depends on a pointer.
- Failures are announced without moving you out of the page context, through a live region, and describe problem, cause and next step in plain language.
- Progress is determinate for long runs and can be genuinely cancelled; a short run shows no fake progress bar.
- Focus is always visible: a solid 2 px outline, at least 3:1 against its background, on light and dark surfaces.
- Interactive targets are at least 24 × 24 CSS px; primary actions are 48 px tall for touch.
- Status is never carried by colour alone: each outcome also carries a word and a symbol.
- The tool layout reflows at narrow widths and honours reduced-motion preferences. Data tables may scroll horizontally within the page.
- Optional Google Analytics loads only with consent. The tool works fully when you refuse; consent can be withdrawn from Cookies and preferences.
Known limitations
Listed honestly. Each one is tracked with an owner and a target date in the audit note referenced at the foot of this page.
- Live assistive-technology pass is pending. The automated scan, the keyboard walkthrough and the accessibility-tree review are done; a scripted pass with NVDA and VoiceOver on real hardware has not yet run, so exact screen-reader wording may still change.
- HEIC input depends on your browser. Where the browser cannot decode HEIC, the tool says so plainly and offers no conversion, rather than failing silently.
- Very large images on low-memory devices. A decode that exhausts memory fails closed with a readable message; there is no streaming path in this version.
- Native file picker wording is controlled by your operating system, not by us.
- Zoomed preview. A large image preview may require scrolling in two dimensions at 400% zoom; this is treated as genuine two-dimensional content.

How this was tested
- Automated: axe-core scan over every page, run in continuous integration on each push.
- Manual: keyboard-only walkthrough of the full task, including the file picker, presets and cancellation; text-resize and reflow checks at 200% and 400% zoom.
- Structured: heading order, landmarks, accessible names and live-region behaviour verified against the rendered page.
